Manage user roles

Control user access with workspace roles.

All users added to Atono are assigned the Standard User role by default. This role includes all of the typical functionality you'd need for day-to-day activities.

If a user requires additional permissions, you can assign them another workspace role. These roles grant additional permissions in addition to those the user already has as a Standard User.

Depending on your role, you may be able to manage other users' roles in Atono:

  • Workspace Owners can assign and remove other Workspace Owners, Workspace Administrators, and Product Managers.
  • Workspace Administrators can assign other Workspace Administrators and Product Managers.
  • Product Managers can assign other Product Managers.
  • No users can remove roles from themselves.

For details on what each role allows, see Roles and permissions.

Manage a user's roles

  1. Click the name of your workspace in the Atono workspace header.
  2. From the menu, select Manage users.
  3. On the Manage users page, hover over the row of the user whose roles you want to modify.
  4. Click the ellipses (...) icon that appears.
  5. From the menu, select Manage user roles.
  6. In the Manage user roles dialog, select or clear checkboxes for the roles you want to assign the user.
  7. Click Save, or click X to cancel.

Considerations when managing roles

  • A user can have multiple roles at once, with permissions stacking.
  • Removing all additional roles leaves a user with the Standard User role.
  • Users cannot remove their own roles—another eligible user must do it for them.
