Comments
Share feedback, ask questions, or clarify details on bugs and stories.
Use comments to ask questions, share ideas, and give feedback directly on bugs and stories. Whether you're clarifying details or making decisions, comments keep everyone aligned. This guide shows you how to add and manage comments so your team stays connected and can move forward smoothly.
Add a comment
You can add comments to a story or bug either in general or directly to specific text to give more precise, contextual feedback.
General comments
General comments are not tied to specific text but are great for broad feedback or questions about the entire story or bug.
- Click the Add a comment... field in the sidebar.
- Type or paste your comment (up to 2000 characters).
- If you try to add more than 2000 characters, only the first 200 characters will be added.
- Click the send (paper airplane) icon or press Enter to add your comment.
Inline comments
For more detailed feedback, you can add comments directly to highlighted text, such as a specific acceptance criterion (AC). Text with an associated comment appears highlighted in the body of the story or bug.
- Highlight the portion of text that you want to comment on.
- In the actions menu that appears, click Comment.
- In the popup, type or paste your comment (up to 2000 characters).
- Click the send (paper airplane) icon or press Enter to add your comment, or click X to cancel.
View comments
The number of active comments is displayed above the Add a comment... field. Click this summary (for example, '6 comments') to open the Comments panel. Active comments are those that haven't been accepted or rejected. Once you accept or reject a comment, it's removed from the panel and the active comments count. You can view details about addressed comments in the Activities list.
When the Comments panel is open, text with associated comments is highlighted in the body of the bug or story. Click any highlighted text to view the related comment in the sidebar.
Comments in the Comments panel are sorted based on their position in the text for inline comments, with general comments appearing below them. If multiple comments are made on the same text, they are ordered by creation time, with the newest comment at the top.
Click the X to close the Comments panel.
Manage comments
Edit, accept, reject, or delete comments to keep feedback clear and organized.
Edit a comment
You can edit a comment to correct mistakes, update information, clarify your point, or add extra context.
Only the comment's author and workspace Administrators can edit a comment.
- In the Comments panel, click on the comment you want to edit.
- Click the ellipses (...) icon.
- From the menu, select Edit.
- Make your changes, then click Save, or click Cancel to discard them.
Both the original and edited versions of the comment are shown in the Activities list, along with the time of the edit. If a workspace administrator edits a comment, the original and edited comment remain attributed to the original author, but the administrator's name appears as the person who made the change.
Accept a comment
Accept a comment to show agreement with feedback, confirm clarification, or acknowledge that a question has been addressed.
- In the Comments panel, click on the comment you want to accept.
- Click the accept (check mark) icon.
The comment is removed from the Comments panel and marked as addressed in the Activities list, where you can see who accepted it.
Reject a comment
Reject a comment if the feedback isn't applicable, the issue has been resolved, or the suggestion isn't feasible.
- In the Comments panel, click on the comment you want to reject.
- Click the reject (cancel) icon.
The comment is removed from the Comments panel and marked as rejected in the Activities list, where you can see who rejected it.
Delete a comment
You can delete a comment if it's no longer relevant, contains errors, is a duplicate, or was posted by mistake.
Only the comment's author and workspace Administrators can delete a comment.
- In the Comments panel, click on the comment you want to delete.
- Click the ellipses (...) icon.
- From the options that appear, click Delete.
The comment is removed from the Comments panel, but both the deletion and the content of the comment remain in the Activities list, showing who deleted it.
