Shortcuts and suggestions

  • Keyboard shortcut: Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to jump to the search bar.
  • Typeahead: As you type, suggestions appear to help you complete your query faster.

What you can search

Search includes stories and bugs that are in:

  • Story refinement
  • Bug triage
  • Team backlogs

It does not include:

  • Completed items (items in a workflow step in the 'Done' category)
  • Items in a team's 'Wont' do' category
  • Items in private team backlogs you don't have access to

To find completed or discarded items, use filters on the Everything page instead. That’s the best place to search across all backlog items, regardless of status or visibility.

Where search looks

Search matches keywords in:

  • Titles
  • Story or bug IDs
  • Descriptions
  • User stories
  • Acceptance criteria
  • Comments (excluding resolved or rejected ones)

Matching is fuzzy and case-insensitive—so partial matches and small typos are fine.

How results are ranked

Results are sorted by relevance, with higher priority given to:

  • Exact or partial matches in the story or bug ID.
  • Keywords in the title.
  • Keywords in the content.
  • Matches in acceptance criteria.

Each result shows where the match occurred so you can scan quickly and decide what to open.

What results look like

Results update as you type, with a total result count shown at the top. Matching terms are highlighted, even if not exact.

Each result includes:

  • The story or bug title.
  • The item ID (e.g., BUG-880, STORY-355).
  • A snippet showing where the match occurred—such as Comment, Description, AC, or User story.
  • A label showing the item's current location: Team backlog, Story refinement, or Bug triage.

This makes it easy to scan for relevance before clicking into an item.

Add filters to narrow results

You can narrow your search results by applying filters. Filters work alongside your keyword search to help you focus on the items that matter most.

Available filters include:

  • Item type (story or bug)
  • Team
  • Workflow step
  • Assignee
  • Timebox
  • Outlier
  • Created
  • Last updated
  • Story size
  • Product theme
  • Risk rating
  • Environment
  • Completed

All selected filters must be true for an item to appear. For example, if you search for “onboarding” and filter by a specific team and workflow step, you’ll only see items that match all of those criteria.

For multi-select filters, items matching any of the selected values are included. For example, filtering by To do and Design will show items in either step.

Filters are remembered when you revisit a recent search—no need to reselect them.

Recent searches

Your 10 most recent searches are saved automatically. Each one shows how many results it returned last time, and if you click it again, any filters you used will be reloaded too.
