Attachments
Add screenshots, mockups, and other files to your stories and bugs to keep everyone on the same page.
Attachments make it easier for your team to communicate clearly, whether you're showing a visual bug or sharing a mockup for a new feature. For example, bug reporters can attach screenshots and videos to quickly explain an issue, helping developers address it faster. Similarly, story authors can attach mockups to visually describe the intended user experience of a feature, ensuring that everyone has a clear understanding of design and functionality goals.
You can attach up to 100 files to a single story or bug, and each file can be up to 50 MB. Across your workspace, attachments have a total storage limit of 1 TB.
Attach a file to a workflow item
You can attach files to bugs and stories, as well as drafts of these items.
Files can be placed inline within the body of a bug or story. For example, you might want to associate files with individual sections of a bug report template, or linked to specific acceptance criteria (ACs) in a story. If your attachments apply to the story in general, you can include them below the main body of text.
- Image and video files: Displayed as thumbnails by default, which you can expand to full screen. You can also resize thumbnails to make them more prominent within the bug or story, so team members can preview without expanding.
- Other file types: Shown as the file name, type, and size.
If you're working in a draft, attachments must finish uploading before you can create the bug or story.
Attach a file inline
Drag and drop one or more files into the bug or story. As you drag the attachment over the text, a blue line will appear to show where the file will be placed when you release it.
Attach a file generally
You can also attach files below the main text area of the bug or story. Just drag and drop the files, and a drop zone will appear where you can place them.
Preview an image or video attachment
If a team member needs to view more detail than what's visible in the thumbnail of an image or video, they can preview the attachment at full size.
- Hover over the attachment.
- When the action icons appear, click the expand (diagonal arrows) icon.
If the image is larger than your screen, it will expand to fill the available space. If the image is smaller, it will be displayed at its original size.
Rearrange attachments
You can move attachments within a story to keep things organized or if they were added in the wrong spot. By dragging and dropping, you can reposition files between different ACs or move them from an AC to the general attachments section.
- Hover over the attachment you want to move.
- Click and hold the attachment, then drag it to the desired location, within an AC or the general attachments section.
- Release the attachment once it’s in the right spot. Your changes are automatically saved.
Download an attachment
If you need to save a file locally, you can quickly download any attachment from a bug or story.
- Hover over the attachment.
- When the action icons appear, click the download (arrow) icon.
- Follow your device's system instructions to save the attachment to your location of choice.
Delete an attachment
Sometimes, attachments are no longer needed or were added by mistake. Deleting your attachment is straightforward and removes the file from the bug or story.
- Hover over the attachment.
- When the action icons appear, click the delete (trash can) icon.
- In the Delete file dialog, confirm you want to delete the file by clicking Delete file, or click X to cancel.
Once deleted, attachments are no longer accessible, including their thumbnails, although they may still appear in the Activities list for audit purposes.
